Who it affects

Adults at risk:

A person, over the age of 18, with care and support needs and the inability to protect themselves from significant harm or exploitation.

Criteria for a safeguarding enquiry under S42 of Care Act 2014 is when the local authority has reasonable cause to suspect that an individual:

• Has care and support needs
• Is experiencing, or is at risk of, abuse or neglect, and
• As a result of those needs is unable to protect himself or herself against the abuse or neglect or risk of it
